South Inlet Transportation

Improvement Project, Atlantic City, NJ

As part of the Connecticut and Massachusetts Avenues Road Widening Project, ACER conducted a geophysical survey to identify underground storage tanks (USTs), buried drums, and utilities.  The geophysical survey was completed using a combination of electromagnetic (EM) detection and ground penetrating radar (GPR) equipment.  A GSSI Profiler Electromagnetic Induction tool was initially utilized to identify magnetic anomalies.  GPR was then used to further investigate these potential areas of concern.  The survey identified fiberglass USTs, steel USTs, former UST locations, hydraulic lifts, and historic fill on site.  Portions of nine (9) city blocks were surveyed as part of this project.
